A Texted Prayer to Hermes

I text the praises of Hermes, speedy son of Zeus,
god of the road and those who travel it.
Lord of lanes and patron of parking spaces,
you who are the difference between a flat tire and arriving early,

look kindly upon we drivers.
Forgive us our late departures and infrequent oil changes,
and lead us with all haste through the routes of least congestion,

turning aside the radars of all traffic officers.
Blessed Hermes, accept our tithes at parking meters and toll booths,
parking garages and gas stations,

and let us ever be carpool buddies.
Hail, Hermes!
